Burdette is providing the electrical design for sports lighting at Softball Field 1, Davidson Field, as well as Entry Drive at the Clemson University to include power distribution and the addition of two new service entrances.  Construction is underway and should be completed for Spring 2023 intramural sports.

Burdette Engineering Inc. provided electrical design services for the Renovation and Expansion of the Indian Land Recreation Center, to include electrical renovations to the existing center, expansion for gyms, restrooms, lobby meeting room and expanded, upgraded parking lot lighting.  Construction now underway.

Burdette performed the electrical design for renovations to the existing Health Wellness Center (approx.16,800 SF) located in the Jeff May Sports Complex of Lander University to include weight room and wrestling room and locker room.

Burdette provided the electrical design for this renovation.  New pendant mounted linear lighting fixtures in locker room and training room, new power for projector, motorized projection screen, relocation of fire alarm devices, power to connect new HVAC, plumbing equipment and entry corridor with automatic lighting controls to meet IECC 2009 requirements.

Orangeburg Recreation ComplexOrangeburg, SC

Sports Complex Update
For the City of Orangeburg’s 132-acre sports complex, Burdette Engineering provided electrical engineering design services that included power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, generator, and IT raceway infrastructure for the site.  The site features a 5 field and 4 field configuration for baseball and softball.  In the center of each set of fields is a press box building that included concessions, restrooms, meeting rooms and scoring booths.  Also included on the site are two ticket booths, three standalone restroom buildings, maintenance/office building and a picnic pavilion.

New Wrestling / Activities Center

The new 11,000SF building to house wrestling and weight room for the high school was completed in May 2018.  Services included utility, power, new LED lighting and emergency and site lighting design.

Final Touch
Little Falls Park

This final touch to the recently completed Falls Park expansion is called the Rose Crystal Tower and was created by sculptor Dale Chihuly to honor the memory of the late Harriet Wyche whom as chairwoman of the Carolina Foothills Garden Club was instrumental in the creation of Falls Park.  Burdette coordinated the LED lighting that reflects the sculpture’s majestic presence in the garden.

New Facility

Provided electrical engineering for the new facilities at the Athletic Complex of Anderson University. Services included power and sports lighting design for softball and tennis facilities, general lighting and equipment connections for a new pool. Parking lot lighting and general exterior illumination for the campus was also provided in addition to future telecommunications conduit for future access to the new facilities.

New Lighting

Lighting and controls design was completed for the hockey rink, indoor soccer and playroom areas.  Design included replacing existing HID fixtures with a new T5HO high bay fixture layout.  New lighting saves energy and flexible controlling allow owner to vary lighting levels and increase savings.

Recreation Wellness Sports ComplexGreenwood, SC

Lander University

Project entailed new athletic fields and phased field house for Lander University in a park-like setting.  Included in the scope are baseball, softball and soccer stadiums with a 16 court tennis complex, along with intramural playing fields.  Athletic lighting designs complied with NCAA Best Practices and IES Standards, with separate designs provided for traditional lighting systems and constant illumination systems to provide bidding comparability.  Stadiums were provided with sound systems, scoreboards and controls, and an integrated voice evacuation fire alarm system.  Infrastructure with ductbank and manholes was provided for power and communications, with provisions for spare conduits and interconnection to the remote campus Communication Center.  In addition, design allows for connection of power and data infrastructure to an athletic field house being designed as a separate project with lockers, coaches’ offices, weight training, etc.  Lighting controls are provided to allow for security illumination after hours.  Fiber and data connectivity to all press boxes were included, with power provided on each field for events such as concerts, etc.

Provided electrical design at Clemson University’s Memorial Stadium for the main display, new sideline fascia (north and south stands), two (2) new tower displays, and new center fascia on the west end zone with D.O.G. clocks.  Scope expanded to include emergency power generator design, and relocation of audio equipment.

Burdette Engineering, Inc. provided an electrical study for the proposed Littlejohn Coliseum Annex in 2011  and designed modifications to the original facility in 2002 to include lighting, power distribution, roof replacement, HVAC, switchgear, panel relocation, and fire safety systems.

Caine Halter YMCAGreenville, SC

Renovation/Addition

Burdette Engineering provided electrical engineering services for phasing work required for the demolition and construction of a new 38,000 square foot YMCA, re-work of pool equipment, new outdoor pool, renovated gymnasium, and some site lighting changes.  At this time, existing electrical services were re-worked to remain in operation during construction.  New design included power, lighting, fire alarm and voice/data raceways.   Later, a new administration building was added to the facility, and most recently, a new flex room was added and existing space converted into a flex fitness room.

Physical Activities CenterGreenville, SC

LEED Silver Certification, 2011

Electrical design to renovate an existing two story, 35,000 SF physical activity center facility for students and faculty.  The existing solar array supplemental heating system for the indoor pool was refurbished.  The existing electrical distribution system was replaced throughout the facility, energy efficient lighting systems and controls were added, a new fire alarm system and HVAC system was installed to meet the latest energy codes.  This building was certified as LEED Silver in 2010.  The existing pool lighting was upgraded as part of the renovations.

Sports Facility & Roadway Lighting

Burdette provided the phased electrical design for the new football stadium at Benedict College.  Services included sports lighting with miscellaneous power and signal conduits for telecommunications, P.A. system, etc., as required for field operations.  Power, lighting and fire alarm  provided for the home side press box structure and for concessions and toilets for each side.  The locker room/future field house and provisions to light the practice field were also included.  Sportslighting for the Baseball, Softball, Soccer and Tennis facilities was provided as well as access roadway lighting.
