Greenville County Schools
The expansion will be completed for the 2025-2026 school year for Woodland Elementary School in Greer, South Carolina. Burdette providing the electrical design for the lighting and fire alarm systems, including 35,000 square feet of classroom space and a 1,000 square foot expansion of the cafeteria.

Greenville County Schools
This addition to Ellen Woodside Elementary includes 24,000 SF of classroom space and will tie in with the original building and all of its systems. Our scope of work includes modifications to existing distribution system, extension of existing telephone & data infrastructure, power distribution for HVAC, and fire alarm and lighting design. It is planned to be completed by this fall for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.

Spartanburg School District 5
Burdette provided the electrical engineering design for this 118,000 square foot school which will house students in Kindergarten – 5th grade, relieving the district’s enormous growth in Duncan, Lyman and Wellford. Spartanburg School District 5
Spartanburg School District 5’s oldest elementary school was rebuilt as Wellford Academy of Science & Technology. The building was constructed right behind the current school and at 118,000 SF it will bring larger, updated classrooms and state of the art technology. Burdette provided the electrical design for this school which opened its doors in the fall of 2024 for the school year.

Spartanburg School District 5
Another school completed summer 2024, opening for the 2024-2025 school year for Spartanburg School District 5. This will make a total of 4 middle schools for the district. Burdette provided the complete electrical design for the 140,000 SF new building that will house approximately 700 students.
New Addition & Renovation
Anderson School District 1
Burdette provided the electrical engineering services to add 140,000SF of new and 13,000SF of renovations, in phases, for this middle school in Piedmont, SC. With this gym along with the kitchen. All phases are complete. Services included new service and distribution, HVAC, primarily LED Lighting throughout, Fire Alarm, Audio Visual, Telecommunications Systems Raceway, Kitchen Design, Site Lighting.

Greenville County Schools
Burdette performed a 5000SF addition to the Mechatronics and Machine tool rooms at the Enoree and Donaldson Career Centers for Greenville County Schools. Project also included new LED lighting and controls plus the addition of new Greenhouses at each of Hillcrest High School, Travelers Rest High School, and Bryson Middle Schools.
Anderson School District 1
New Addition & Renovations
Currently performing electrical engineering services and design for approximately 140,000 sf of new and 13,000 sf of renovations for phased construction of a new school in place of the Palmetto MS for Anderson County School District 1. The school will be constructed in phases requiring sequencing and possible temporary installation of power and telecommunications throughout the construction period.
Addition
SC Governor’s School for the Arts & Humanities
Burdette provided electrical engineering services for the addition of an approximate 10,000SF music building. The design includes 7 practice rooms, a large ensemble and rehearsal room, group percussion room, 4 teaching studios, instrument storage, and restrooms and it will connect directly to the existing building.
Tenant Stadium Upgrades
Burdette provided electrical design services for an electrical upgrade to the Soccer Stadium at Legacy Charter School for use by a temporary tenant. Services included design for new permanent scoreboard, miscellaneous power and vomitory lighting for chair back seating, emergency lighting for egress and design of bored conduits for sound system.
New Classroom Building
Burdette provided the electrical design for a new classroom building located on The Verdae Development in Greenville, SC. The project consists of an approximately 25,000 square foot educational building plus a 7,500sf multipurpose building and associated facility parking. Design services provided included power service entry; telecom service entry; site lighting; power distribution for HVAC kitchen equipment, miscellaneous equipment and convenience power; lighting and lighting controls; LED lighting; telecommunications, AV and security raceways; fire alarm systems; paging system.
Anderson County School District 2
New Wrestling / Activities Center
The new 11,000SF building to house wrestling and weight room for the high school was completed in May 2018. Services included utility, power, new LED lighting and emergency and site lighting design.
Greenville County School District
LED Retrofits
Ongoing electrical engineering services for replacement of existing lighting with LED lighting to include drawings and bidding and construction observation services as required in existing schools within Greenville County. A 33-month long project between October 2016-July 2019 of approximately 70 schools.
Anderson School District 1
New Building
Burdette completed this new conference center this summer for the school district. Part of the electrical design was this interesting 6′ diameter LED pendant with up and down lighting that serves as the focal point in the lobby.
Hartness Performing Arts Center
The 37,000SF facility includes a 600-seat theater with LED house and stage lighting, orchestra pit, practice rooms, classrooms for orchestra, drums, lower school music and band, shop for building sets and a 3,000SF lobby area. Electrical design includes power distribution, data/telephone, internal and external lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm, audio-visual raceways, mechanical and plumbing system connections, LifeSafety generator, theatrical lighting raceways, power and power connections coordination.
New Classrooms/Gym Building
Burdette provided electrical design and specifications for approximately 34,000sf of classroom and gymnasium building for St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School located in Greenville, SC., with an alternate for kitchen, dining and additional classrooms. Services included coordination of new services with power, telephone and cable utilities, power distribution for HVAC, convenience and elevator equipment power, lighting and controls, including gymnasium lighting, emergency lighting, site lighting for new parking area to be controlled from new building, data cabling and fire alarm systems.
Original Building & Expansion
Designed original building in 1996 and it was erected in 1999. Since that time Burdette has also extended existing dormitory to add new resident assistant apartments and backup generator to supply power to the existing building electrical service. Generator design with service rated automatic transfer switch included controls sequence to selectively disable non-essential power to conserve backup energy required. Added lighting, power and extended existing fire alarm and speaker systems to new rooms.
Fire Alarm System Replacements
Three Schools
Burdette Engineering Inc. was awarded the design contract to provide fire alarm replacement construction documents in just over three weeks for completion over the summer of 2013 for Marrington Middle, Berkeley Intermediate, and Sedgefield Intermediate schools of the Berkeley County School District in Moncks Corner, SC. Design was completed as scheduled and approval was coordinated and secured with the Office of School Facilities in 81 days.

Additions and Renovations
Scope of work includes additions and renovations to the former Greenville County Schools Fine Arts Center. The additions of 15,000SF include 14 classrooms for kindergarten, fourth and fifth grade. The renovations of 30,000SF include classrooms, converting an existing theatre and prop room to kitchen and cafeteria space, and general administrative offices. The electrical design consisted of a new electrical power distribution, communications system design, fire alarm system design, lighting design and specification, design of receptacle power and placement, power and communication cable tray layout, full service commercial kitchen design including hood and equipment connections, teaching smartboard connections, and provided wiring and connection to mechanical equipment.
